A posthumous Daniel Johnston box set is on the way and will arrive on the first drop of Record Store Day, marking the late singer-songwriter’s first release since his death last year. Following Johnston’s death, his brother revealed how he left behind a large amount of unpublished music and illustrations that might one day be released.

The new double LP box set The End Is Never Really Over will comprise of vinyl pressings of out-of-print albums 1990 (1990) and Artistic Vice (1991). It will also include stickers, a Folk t-shirt with Johnston’s Captain America “End of the Show” drawing and a 16-page art book featuring illustrations by Johnston. There will also be a pin of his famous frog-like character, “Jeremiah the Innocent.” The box set is limited to 500 copies and will be available on August 29.

Since Johnston’s death, his art has been used in clothing collections from Supreme and Vans. Also, the classic indie rock band Built to Spill, who served as Johnston’s backing band for his final tour, just released a stunning Daniel Johnston tribute album, which gives a deep understanding to Johnston’s influence and talent, who was truly one-of-a-kind.
